Description
Wax encaustic portrait on lime or linden wood panel of a man; dark hair with beard and moustache, skin reddish brown, lips deep pink, eyes dark brown and white. Traces of white inner, and dark, outer garment below neck on shoulders. Portrait made up of three longitudinal fragments and patered to U-shape above head. Broken with sections missing at top and right; traces of linen binding at top. (Ex. Temp. Nos. 425, 434) Hawara Cemetery, portrait no.17 in 1911 excavations by Petrie, found on a body with head oriented to west.
