Description
Wax encaustic portrait on wood panel of young woman; head-band on crown, dark hair with rows of small curls across forehead, skin patched with cream and pink, lips pink, gold ball hooped earrings in slight relief and gold necklace; wearing dark red chiton and haematon with black or dark blue, cream edged, band on borders. Portrait virtually intact, although longitudinally cracked on lower half, section missing from right edge. From Hawara cemetery, Body 55, head north.
