Nile silt pottery body sherd (crushed calcium carbonate tempered ware= Hierakonpolis system hard orange) from jar (for shape see Protodynastic Corpus pl XIII, 59, F6 cf. UC 17487) with red wash applied with visible, vertical finger strokes; two edges worn, re-used as digging tool by looters' who probably added incised copy of serekh of Semerkhet surmounted by falcon, upside down.
