Description
Gourd with burnt pattern and grass decorations.
Gourd with burnt pattern and grass decorations. The patterns appear to have been burnt directly onto the surface, using a tool such as a needle. The funnel or top section comprises two shades (yellow and black) in a geometric pattern. Throughout the gourd there are three distinct design sections. The midsection of the gourd contains a design which includes dots, lines and rectangular shapes. The bottom section is comprised various lines are different thickness, tapering in towards the base of the gourd. Elsewhere on the gourd (in two places) there are patterns of lines, framed within 20mm high sections, and curved at regular intervals. Original classification: "H: Basketry and gourds, bags"
