FG Donnan's Davy Medal. The Royal Society presents the medal to recipients annually “for an outstandingly important recent discovery in any branch of chemistry”, Donnan received the award in 1928 "for his contributions to physical chemistry and particularly for his theory of membrane equilibrium". The silver medal shows on one side the bust in profile of Humphry Davy (the award's namesake), and is presented within a black square box, which is lined on one side with ultramarine blue velvet, and a shiny cream material on the other. Just on the lip beneath the relief bust of Humphry Davy's portrait is a stamp identifying the medal as a product of A.B. Joy and N. Macphail. Asbestos Inspection - Non-Asbestos

Davy's portrait is signed "A.B. Joy Sc., N. Macphail F.", perhaps with Neil Macphail c.1844 - 1907
