Home-constructed colorimeter made by RD Harkness. Illustrates general state of laboratory equipment after 2nd World War. Mainly wood
Wood and metal colorimeter, with wires attached. With card reading ' RD Harkness 16 (?) 84 Homemade colorimeter illustrating general state of lab equipment shortly after the 1940-46 war.' 'RD Harkness 1950' carved into wood. Hand written labels indicating use of each switch. Colorimeter is an instrument used for the precise measurement of the hue, purity, brightness of a colour.
Asbestos confirmed as present, 2015/10/22. Comments 'The paxolin bakelite knobs, dials and boards are strongly presumed to contain asbestos / Manage to minimise disturbance'.
'The textile cable braiding was sampled and confimred as non asbestos / No action required'
