Description
Fragmentary hieratic papyri and one vignette, mounted in one frame (A) Fragment with six lines of a letter in black recto, seven partially erased lines of a grain account on verso. This fragment, A, is a letter which has been written on the back of an erased grain account. It deals with vegetable production and appears to be a reminder to distribute the work of growing vegetables between the people listed; they are described, literally, as “Makers of vegetables”. Ancient Egyptian vegetables included onions, leeks, garlic, beans, lettuce, lentils and cabbages.
Text has been translated as:
'This is a message for the lord, may he live, long, prosper and thrive, about assigning responsibilities to the vegetable-producers Sare, Iku, Ankhtifi and Senwosret'.
