Description
Engraving of Humphry Davy, 1830, by Wm. Walker. Brown wooden frame
Engraving of Humphry Davy, 1830, by William Walker after a painted watercolour original by John Jackson that at the time was in the possession of Lady Davy, but is now in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. The image depicts Davy, three-quarter length and seated at his desk with his hand on an open book, facing the right.
The image is mounted on off-white paper that is held within a gilded wooden slipframe, which is in turn held by a plain wooden frame, the image is protected by a glass screen. The frame is falling apart- the backing is actively deteriorating.
