Sir Henry Thompson's instruments
Leather case containing medical instruments of different types. Lid of case has purple velvet lining & can be lifted to hold more instruments.

The leather case is open on one end and is in very fragile condition. The top of the case has the words 'Instrument set of Sir H. Thompson' handwritten on it.
There are a total of 50 seperate pieces. The bottom of the leather case, the top of the case, and 48 instrument pieces. A few of the pieces possibly come from the same tool and have since seperated.
The majority of instruments are lithotomy sounds, lithotrites or other tools used in urological surgery. They would have been used for examining the bladder and stone removals from the kidneys, gallbladder and bladder.
