Hinged wooden box with plaque missing from lid, brass fittings. 15 tools inside, 5 scalpels, 7 ‘picks’, 2 sets of hooks. Hinged wooden box with plaque missing from lid, brass fittings. 15 tools inside, 5 scalpels, 7 ‘picks’, 2 sets of hooks.
Box is scuffed and lightly damaged on lid and body, plaque once sat on top of lid but now missing - the wood is cut into the shape of the plaque and there is black residue. Brass fittings include two hinges, a lock in the main body of the box and part of the lock with a 'tooth' in the lid, as well as a small tear drop shaped piece of metal on the inside of the lid that moves, used to hold instruments inside the lid (these are now missing). The separators in the box are also brass. A white makers plaque is visible inside the box.
Of the 5 scalpels 4 have bone(?) handles, one all metal. all are made by MAW London, and the blades show signs of re-sharpening.
The 7 'picks' are mostly silver coloured metal, though 2 have wooden handles. 2 appear to be surgical needles for threading (they have curved blades). 1 has a makers mark different to those on the box and the knives. 1 is in 2 parts, handle and 'pick'.
2 sets of hooks are silver coloured metal.
