The image is signed in orange paint with Elliott and Fry's names, probably the photographers. Their studio's sticker label is attached to the reverse. There is a plaque beneath the image on the centre of the frame that states the sitter, and that the image was presented by the Chemical and Physical Society in 1923.
The image is framed firstly within a wooden slipframe, that is in turn held by a frame of the same wood with protective glass screen.
