Iron finger ring with large bezel; heads of Severus, Caracella and traces of Geta, inscription in Latin around circumference. The name of Geta seems to have been deliberately, but carefully, removed leaving the busts of Severus and Caracalla untouched. Geta's name was systematically erased across the Roman Empire. Modern casts were made of this item in 2017 for the 'Defacing the past: damnation and desecration in imperial Rome' exhibition at the British Museum.
