Description
Pottery ostracon, with nine lines of Coptic on exterior, recording the share of a woman named Susanna, from a group of ostraca now in more than one museum concerning inheritance of an estate. Ostracon Petrie 31. In this ostracon, we see how the mediators themselves may have specified who received what. Alternatively, this ostracon marks the final decision, instead of a papyrus legal document, which would have been much more expensive.
Text has been translated as: 'Susanna shall receive the upper storage room before the door and the veranda, which is to be opened up(?)'.
