Sextant
Brass sextant with primitive artificial horizon. Brass with handwritten note (by Francis Galton?). In mahogany trapezoid box.
A sextant is an instrument used for navigation and surveying. Galton used this sextant to map parts of Namibia. He also used the sextant to take measurements of a Damara woman from a distance without her permission.
