Painted and gilt carved wood pedestal with Neo-classical decoration. Possibly designed by Robert Adam. Used as pedestal for the marble bust of George Grote, by William Behnes (LDCUS-10004), when bequeathed to UCL by H.C. Smith through the National Art Galleries Fund in 1958.
