Description
Ten textiles (UC7496i-x) in a fragmented and damaged condition, including parts of garments; plain weaves with coloured strips, embroidery, insertions and tufts; now sewn onto cards 1-10. One metal 'hook' connected with a coarse fragment. Found wrapped in Manchester Guardian May-August 1888 with a label 'Kahun - (linen??) pieces XII' (as if initially identified as 'Dynasty 12'/ Middle Kingdom; the label is in unidentified handwriting (Brunton has been suggested; he worked with Petrie at Lahun in 1914 and 1919-1920). Recorded as being in 'Case 758' (wartime packing crate).
