The Thompson Watts Plotting Machine. Designed by EH Thomspon & manufactured by Hilger & Watts Ltd. This and subsequent models are widely used for making maps from aerial photographs The pinhole plotter was designed by EH Thompson at GHQ Middle East in 1941-2, and was used to make maps from aerial photos. A document in the collection file lists this as one of the two most important objects in the collection, along with a Marine Chronometer by Parker & Frodsham with was sold at auction proir to May 2000.
