Description
Plaster life mask of Dr. August Friedrich Günther. Part of Robert Noel's Casts of Intellectuals series.
Cast of a man's head and neck with a partial collar. The cast is on a round base inscribed with the number 9. The eyes and mouth are closed, the hair is parted on the left and the face is clean shaven. There is noticable damage to the face with chips on the end of the nose, the lower lip, the right side of the mouth and the right side of the head. There is a large chip missing from under the chin.
Günther was born in 1806 and died in 1871, he was an army surgeon and university lecturer.
