Extremely broken sheet of papyrus with hieratic letter in two 'pages' of 17 (?) and 16 horizontal lines on recto and a further three vertical lines on verso, in black, in thick, large cursive signs. Half eaten away by insects. Petrie lot No. XII.1.
This letter seems almost certain to be related to UC32200 although the handwriting is different; the addressee is in both cases a woman, they both deal with a royal servant who has been arrested and both mention the royal herald. It is possible from the layout, the series of short sentences beginning with “Look”, the lack of any address or greeting formulae or names that this is only a draft of a letter. It appears to be laying out the woman’s options on how to proceed and it would seem, from this letter and UC32200, that there is a possibility that the royal servant will be a victim of injustice if he is left in the charge of the royal herald. It is not clear from either letter why she is so concerned about his fate.
