One of two figures flanking inscription tablet. An upright rectangular panel with a narrow plinth, on which stands a female figure in high relief, and in antique dress, symbolizing English law, holding fasces in her left hand, with her right raised, holding a torch above her head (W&G 24). Model for part of the monument in St Mary's Church, Oxford, to Sir William Jones (1746-94) the celebrated scholar and judge of the High Court, Calcutta, 1783-94.
