Wax encaustic portrait on a wood panel of a woman with dark, curly swept up hair; skin cream and pink, lips darker pink; eyes dark brown and white. White/ cream garment with red trimming over shoulders. Surface damaged and flaky with areas of wood exposed; panel intact (possibly thicker than usual) with band of discolouration left by mummy bandages at base; top corners trimmed at sloping angle. Patches of resin soaked linen still adhering to back (Ex Temp No 439). From Hawara cemetery.
