[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]
Fragmentary letter in hieratic with one column, ten and three lines and three columns in black, on recto, and three and nine (?) lines in black on verso; torn, with wear along fold-lines; mud obscures most of verso text; two fragments below main piece have not been fixed exactly; sender is named as [se]-nbubu. Old glass frame heavily coated with soot around the edges; the papyrus was conserved and remounted in 2017 by Vania Assis.
This letter deals with a visit from someone demanding an outstanding payment. He seems to have checked up on the writer in the local records and then escalated it to a higher authority; the palace. The second part deals with the return of a servant girl who has probably been sent to the steward Iuseneb for a particular purpose.
Text has been translated as:
'The servant of the personal estate Senbubu says:
This is a message for the lord to the effect that:
[………….............................…..] yours truly saying:
“I have come to take the payment that he owes”
As soon as he found yours truly in the office of the local council
he had it officially approved by the palace.
I am writing, because of the message about it.
It is yours truly who always does whatever the lord, may he live long, prosper and thrive, says.'
[2nd page (in columns)]
'A message to the effect that:
I have sent two retainers [to the lord, may he live long,] prosper and thrive
to bring back the servant girl who the steward Iuseneb has. You should [………] her to me
[…….] the lord, may he live long, prosper and thrive in order to bring her to him. It could be good. It is good that the lord, may he live long, prosper and thrive, listens.'
