Quincunx (part 1 of 2) & lead shot for quincunx (part 2 of 2). Lead shot in circular box, on which written "8 ounces. 2 whether for home or abroad." Other observations: Written notes on face of instrument by FG - "Instrument to illustrate the Law of Error on Dispersion by Francis Galton FRS". With two photocopied pages from a German book, contains information on the use and principles of the quincunx. With photos (1977) of quincunx and of the Statistics Department's seed machine. With photocopy of quincunx entry in the catalogue of special loans to the Science Museum.
