[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]
UCL Inorganic Chemistry Medal, awarded to D. McDonald. Silver medal in black box.
UCL Inorganic Chemistry Medal, awarded to D. Mcdonald. Silver medal awarded to D. McDonald, junior inorganic chemist. The medal was awarded for 1907-8. It is silver with an allegorical seated female figure holding a laurel in one hand (the laurel motif is repeated on the reverse, framing the inscription), surrounded by latin text with the roman date "MDCCCXXVII" (1827), perhaps referencing the creation date of the medal (by one of the famous Wyon medallists) or the foundation of the award.
The medal is cushioned with blue velvet lining, the lid of the box is lined with cream satin-weave material, and stamped with the WYON logo. The box is black.
This is one of two faculty medals awarded to D. McDonald 1907-1908, they are together in the same clear plastic bag with the loose label "McDONALD'S FACULTY MEDALS / 1907-1908".
