Demonstration model to illustrate J N Collie's space formula of benzene. Six four sided triangular wooden blocks attached to a wooden cube with metal rods, springs streach between the triangular blocks, each of which has a small orange ball attched via small metal rod. Demonstration model to illustrate J N Collie's space formula theory of benzene (incorrect). Six triangular four sided wooden blocks attached to a wooden cube with metal rods, which extend stright from teh cube but bend in a U shape before reaching the Triangular black. springs streach between the triangular blocks, each of which has a small red / orange ball attched via small metal rod. Springs are attached to each triangular block by a small hoop screwed into teh wood. Taking the top triangular block as 1, and moving clockwise - 1, 4 and 5 has the corners missing. Base and rod are both grey, with a stain on the base (not as old as the model?). Attached to rod by screws which can slide up and down. This part includes a blue plastic screw cap.
Believed to be the original model, the other version is missing some hydrogen molecules (the red balls) and the metal rods come out from the sides of the central cube, rather than the corners as they do in this case. Designed to be adjustable, but shape hasn't been altered recently. Rod is slightly loose and can be screwed / unscrewed from base.
