Painted linen mummy shroud-red lead on tabby linen, plus pigments of carbon black, orpiment and Egyptian blue. In three pieces. Bottom upwards: 2 feet; a demotic inscription; a disc with 2 coiled cobras wearing lower Egyptian crowns; Osiris standing on base, flanked by 2 elongated cobras; one wearing Red and other white crown; two make deities each holding a feather (surmised), flanking a standing winged Isis (surmised). Demotic inscription in carbon black previously translated as: "Phitton (?) (also called) Paremebyon (the surname meaning man of Fayum) son of Huy of Herwer". However, was correctly translated later by Sven P. Vleeming as: 'Pyltewa, the man from the Fayum—in order to transport <him> to Hawara'. The name Pyltewa is possibly an Egyptian rendering of the Greek name Philotas. For an adult mummy an once accompanied by and inserted encaustic portrait. Conserved by Carla Petshek at the textile Conservation Centre, Hampton Court Palace in 1986/7.
